A Cold Heart

Poetry

It is as if he speaks directly to my heart
Bypassing years of intellect and reading
He has his way , he is powerful, he is strong
He grabs my heart by its artery and begins to twist
His held it ransom against my will
He begins to turn and his clutch grows stronger
I feel his shadow pressed against me
And at that moment there he begins
A stark silence before the storm
I know what’s coming what’s in store
For it’s happened before
My soul struck at its core
I’m no stranger to this song
What was once unsafe lands
Has now become a heaven of solitude

Have you seen the man in the film
He believes he is Sane
He covers his horrors
Comprehension of ills is beyond his minds reasoning
This is where I find myself torn between the self to the brain
I have fallen deep
Deeper than the hot molten core
I lie bitter and cold

Oh wait
Is that my brain overcoming my self
Yes , these lands are not the heaven I speak of
I am trapped
I find his tender talk sweeter than honey
‘go on do it, it’s ok’
Those words once defeated by my fortress
Like a virus have spread through
That desire my Trojan horse
Now multiplied into many

I am lifeless without emotion
His sucked out every inch of feeling
So I wonder like the man in that film
That now I realise my error
But I’d rather construct this tale
Where I am empty in the mirror
