Poetry

volcano

Once they stood tall and the clouds grazed their faces
how did they feel when man wished to overcome its strength
and in their eyes the wind would send tears flowing
there it overlooked the lands around it with pride
it listened to the word of man
it endured how  the tongue would bring social destruction
for man never learns from its past
and soon you were to tire from the strain
the wish to cease to exist would overcome you
the wars, the death and the life of man you saw
you were to obey times will
and now you begin to crumble as the earth shakes
fire begins to erupt from your core soul
you have turned your back on all that you protected
the patience and sanity from deep within have passed
the screams now rise to the sky
as you turn off the Sun’s pure light
the sky is dark with flashes of red and orange
the fire burns throughout and the trees hurdle together
your anger at man is manifest
time has given you your rightful word
so let it be and let man see this hidden power
let you speak for the voiceless natural beauty
let man see its forgotten duty
